More on Moissanite

As I replied in a comment concerning a previous post about Moissanite, I've been doing more research on this and other simulated diamonds with the idea of this follow up post. At the time of my first post, I was looking into this subject just out of curiosity without any idea of the passion some readers had concerning the pros and cons of this and other simulated diamonds in general.

Little did I know, that my husband, with the intention of coming up with some sparkling jewelry Christmas presents for me, was also researching this topic. What a small world, even in your own house.

After reading a lot of different information on line, he opted for a simulated stone, actually three – one for a pendant and two for earrings, from Diamond Nexus Labs, which he then set himself in 14kt gold settings.

I guess a sucker is born every minute. Diamond Nexus Labs peddles nothing more than cheap, $5 CZ stones. They go to great lengths to present their stones as ‘synthetic diamonds’ or ‘man-made diamonds’ but then their website says absolutely nothing about the actual composition of their stones. If you call and press them enough, they will admit that they are in fact cubic zirconia. Here are a few links to forums where people discuss their displeasure with this deceptive company: http://forums.ebay.com/db1/thread.jspa?threadID=2000285033&tstart=0&mod=1168750751963

For all of the trash talking concerning Moissanite, you can purchase a 1 carat Moissanite solitaire on the internet for around $500 and probably sell it on ebay for around $400. If you buy one of these cheap cz rings, you will be lucky to get $50. Lesson to be learned: do your homework before buying diamond simulants.

There is a big difference between an attack and criticism. Perhaps if you did better research and support your arguments with facts you would not have opened yourself to such a critique.

    Tammy,

I received one response from an Orchid member regarding moissanite, and it seems to be information of a substantive nature. Given the copyrright protection due to open forums, I’m not sure that openly re-posting his information would be appropriate in this situation. I’d be happy to forward his response to you. Contact me at my email address if you would like to read his response.

    Happy New Year!

Miachelle – Yes, please sent that to me when you get a chance at tammy@creative-weblogging.com

Jack – Actually, I had a lot more informtion in this original post, but some how it got cut off after the last two pictues I included. I was thinking of writing a third, just to at least include the information that got sucked up into cyberspace. However, now that I see the Barbers are still trashing me, honetly, I’m kind of sick of the whole topic. Get over it already, which is what I plan to do. I don’t care that they lost or did not lose money investing in a questionable product, but I don’t feel that’s reason enough to publically attack me.
