Eva Longoria Glitters on Her Big Day

Eva Longoria and Tony Parker said "I Do" this weekend in Paris, France. Can you get any more romantic than that?

Okay, maybe if you consider some of the wonderful jewelry glam she got to wear for the big day, compliments of H. Stern, and don't forget about the wedding party who received bracelet from Van Cleef and Arpels.

Here are more details from 'With this bling,' Parker, Longoria wed:

Desperate Housewives star Longoria donned one-of-a-kind H. Stern jewelry as she wed San Antonio Spurs point guard Parker at Saint Germain l'Auxerrois Church in Paris on Saturday, followed by an elaborate reception at the 17th-century Chateau of Vaux le Vicomte.

Longoria wore H. Stern's "Hebe" earrings [pictured] and "Zephyr" and "Geometric" hair clips for the ceremony and the company's "Isis" earrings for the reception. She also gave H. Stern "Giardino" earrings to each of her 13 bridesmaids.

Each female guest at the wedding, including Longoria's co-stars Nicolette Sheridan, Terri Hatcher and Felicity Huffman, received a Van Cleef and Arpels "Sweet Alhambra" bracelet [...] Based on Van Cleef and Arpels iconic Alhambra design, the 18-karat yellow-gold bracelets feature a miniature mother-of-pearl clover charm.

On the Dot with Bridal Jewelry

You don't always have to be a bride to wear bridal jewelry. That's what I keep telling myself any way. Since I recently added a new blog to my blog roll, The Bridal Jewelry Blog, I also had to take a look at the jewelry web site behind the blog, Redot Designs, the brainchild of designer rebecca Dotson.

Before I go on to show off some of her beautiful jewelry work, she has extended an offer to my readers to receive 10% off their entire order. Just use this coupon code when ordering: WEBLOG

Thank you, Rebecca! Now,let's take a look at some of her wonderful jewelry designs. Pictured left is a necklace that I think any bride or past-bride would enjoy:

One nice feature about her site is the detailed pictures provided such as these for the Victoria, a multi-strand bracelet, combining "Swarovski crystals and pearls accented by sterling silver sparkle rondelles."

New Bridal Pendant Design

Wedding jewelry is big (big) business, so the jewelry industry is constantly working on new designs for future brides. The latest one is aptly called "the bride's pendant." Yes, good name, I know. Here's the story:

The Bride's Pendant was borne from the vision of a perfect diamond keepsake… a reflection of the true love that radiates from your heart. Each Bride's Pendant tells a unique and wonderful love story, sparking with the promise of "I do," and the magic of a lifetime together.

The precious diamonds in each pendant have been hand-selected, carefully matched and lovingly set in an embrace of 14-karat gold. Weddings, anniversaries, birthdays… with ten stunning designs to choose from, a Bride's Pendant is the perfect gift for any occasion of love. Each necklace in The Bride's Pendant collection has been named to reflect the feeling behind the design, and the love between two people.

Here are some variations on this design from thebridespendant.com:

Old Rings But New Look

Old Rings But New Look

While I definitely have a soft spot for traditional wedding rings and bridal jewelry in general, I have to admit that I was an early adopter of the idea that engagement rings do not have to be exclusively a band with a diamond in the middle. Part of my departure from tradition has to do with my weakness for colored gems. Yes, diamonds are supposed to be a girl's best friend, but wrap me in rubies any day!

I'm obviously not alone in this lean towards something new and different for the bride. I first saw this over at Cool Hunting, who then directed me to With the Band: Auto gathers 15 new reasons to make a vow:

That band of gold-Long have couples quarreled and kvetched over the less-than-inspired offerings out there for soul mates-to-be. And with the evolving meaning behind matrimony and the marriage vow in general, it's time for a new breed of commitment rings to start making their way down the aisles.

Having already become a haven for unconventional jewelry designers and unique wearable arts, the shop Auto has commissioned 15 of their favorite jewelers to re-envision the commitment ring. "The idea came about from popular demand really," says owner and designer Renata Bokalo. "We had so many customers who wanted something untraditional, one-of-kind, or simply customized. Most of the jewelers were either already creating or in the process of creating these rings, so it was perfect timing."

Of the five rings they show, pictured is my favorite. Yes, it does have a diamond in the center, but I really like the setting. Maybe they cold switch out the diamond with a ruby? Make sure you go take a look at the others and you decide which you like best.

Weddings In High Style

30 May

Wedding jewelry is often dictated by the style of the wedding dress as well as a woman's own unique flair for style. With the popularity of strapless gowns and halter-style dresses for both the bride and her bridesmaids, the trend towards showy diamond jewelry is increasing. These dress styles go great with diamond chandelier earrings and layered necklaces. Even the engagement rings have gotten showier, with cuts that promote a bigger face for the money being popular, and rock sizes going past the usual 1-carat diamond size. If the bride wants to add more glitz, she can opt for a layered set of diamond rings or bracelets too.

Diamonds make great accents at weddings adding the needed sparkle to all the lace and finery. The elegant upswept hairstyles common today are begging for some diamond jewelry hair combs or tiaras. Diamonds are even sometimes sewn into the dresses to help add sparkle to the gown as well.

Bridal jewelry is a very popular way to say "thank you" to the bridesmaids. It is multifunctional in that it can be worn to amp up the wedding festivities and shown off in bridal party photos. It can also be reused by the bridesmaids, giving them lovely memories of the wedding every time they choose to wear it.

The groom isn't left out either! He can now choose to add his own diamond accessories for himself and his wedding party. Couples are now buying dual engagement rings, one for him and one for her. Other times, the matching wedding bands are set with diamonds and can be a stunning feature when carried on a tiny pillow by the ring bearer. Diamond cufflinks make a good accent for a tuxedo and as a gift to the men's wedding party as well. If that is too traditional, watches are now available which can be bought with diamond accents in the face of the watch. They also make good wedding gifts.

Bezame Jewelry for Brides

Bezame Jewelry for Brides

Variety Gem has a fairly new bridal jewelry collection called Bezame. Like many of the engagement rings I see these days, they are heavy on the diamonds and white metals. In fact, it is starting to seem odd to me to even see yellow gold for brides. Nothing wrong with that, just a sign of the times. Back in my day, yellow gold was the thing. Now, it's platinum. Ah well, I still love my little ol' ruby ring. But, here are some stunners for you from their Bezame collection just the same.

From the Bezame line, this classic comfort fit Engagement ring has 2 Baguette and 40 round stones for a more comfortable fit. The ring is available in Platinum, 14 or 18 karat white gold and in all sizes.

New Swarovski Bridal Jewelry

I have been seeing ads and information about bridal jewelry all over the place lately. That includes the web as well as hard copy publications. Not to be out of the loop, Swarovski delivers a stunning new bridal collection it calls "Love and Light."

Granted, pearls are the normal mainstay when in comes to bridal jewelry, but as someone who has designed wedding jewelry a few times, you have to have some sparkle too, and Swarovski is "it" when it comes to crystals that sparkle.

Here are a few pieces I selected from the latest collections.

Cherry Blossom Pierced Earrings

Kirk Kara for the Bride

Kirk Kara for the Bride

I had lunch with a good friend of mine the other day and she showed me wedding photos of her son's recent wedding in the Bahamas. The bride was gorgeous, your typical 24 year old barbie doll, and her jewelry was beautiful too. While they got married last month, it reminded me that it's just about that time of year for many brides and grooms to be wed. April, May, and June are some of the top months for weddings, especially for college (or soon to be graduates of college) students.

As just a little feast for the eye, even if you are an old married gal like myself, here are some gorgeous wedding rings from Kirk Kara.

Pictured above is a platinum, diamond, and sapphire set. Yeah for gemstone colors!

Here's another set with a hint of 18kt gold.

Obviously, he likes sapphires, but I'd love to see these same designs with rubies.

New Wedding Band Collection

Guertino is announcing its latest wedding band collection (both his and hers) called Ariana:

We're expanding our branded Ariana Collection. Choose from five new gents wedding bands designed to match our most popular styles. These beautifully crafted four-square bands are available in 14k or 18k yellow or white gold and in platinum.

The platinum set pictured upper left includes a diamond sort of on the side of the ring. It is too bad they don't show this on someone's finger because I'm curious about how well you can see the diamond.

Here are some other rings from this collection.
