I have always been enamored by the elegance that the right accessory can bring to a woman's natural beauty. You have probably watched movies where someone takes a diamond and uses it to scratch a mirror or, cut a hole in a window. If you have diamonds, the first thing you should do is keep then separate from other jewelry as they can, and will scratch. If your diamond didn't come in a box, find some soft cloth to wrap it in when you are not wearing it.

The second thing you should consider is always having your diamonds professionally cleaned. This way, the jeweler can check for loose stones and fittings at the same time as they are cleaned. If you wish to do your own cleaning, there are products you can buy that will clean your diamonds and other jewelry using ultrasound. These small machines are quite cheap and seem to do a good job.

If you don't want to buy an ultra-sonic cleaner, you can simply wash you diamonds in soapy water. A tooth brush is the perfect size for cleaning the back of the diamonds as the bristles can easily clean in-between the fittings around the diamond.

Finally, yet importantly, there are many commercial diamond cleaning products available on the market. Do take care though if you are cleaning your own diamonds. Make sure the product you are using is suitable and will not damage your diamond or fitting.

Vintage is something that seems to never go out of the style. Whether its placed on a lapel or weighs about 5 pounds and resides on your right hand; there is always a place for vintage jewelry. Brooches add a gorgeous artistic flare as well as old costume jewelry. But where do you find such pieces?

Easy! You pass up opportunities to find these little treasures on any road trip during spring, summer, and fall. Garage sales, dummy! Garage and estate sales are like the mecca for vintage pieces. On those scorching days in the summer, I find the best stuff! For example, just last summer I found this long necklace with a bejeweled seahorse pendant. It is so funky and unique, and people always ask me where I got it. They never believe when I tell them I found it under a pile of old sappy romance books at a garage sale for a dollar… a dollar!

Garage sales are one of the best places to find vintage jewelry because its real, and super cheap. A lot of times, the gems and metal are the real thing, but because of the tarnish or dirt the owners neglect to realize the true worth. All you need is some jewelry cleaner and a toothbrush, and you'll have a new (well kinda new) and truly unique piece for all your friends to gawk at. Happy hunting! ☺

For a long long time, there were no ear accessories designed for those who need to wear hearing aids. It was as if wearing a Miracle ear and fashion earrings were mutually exclusive. Multi-millionaire Anne Hendricks Bass is suing the Shangri La Hotel in Singapore, where she allegedly lost a ring worth $220, 000 while she was staying at the hotel last year.

According to court documents, she said she placed the ring on a table in the bedroom of her two-room suite at about 6.30pm that day, shortly before getting a massage.

She said two hotel employees were with her for about an hour in the room, while another entered at about 9.15pm to deliver a meal she ordered.

Ms Bass claimed she realised the ring was missing only at 10pm, when she was about to check out.

Now she's filing for damages, saying that either the hotel was negligent or its employees might have stolen the Paris-made gold ring, which had a 6.41 carat diamond.

A ring worth $220,000! Geez, these are the kind of jewelry that's totally beyond my imagination. Even in my dreams, the most expensive I've ever wished for was perhaps a Tiffany or Chopard eternity ring. Talk about different social strata!
